Sing with me

I had mentioned before I started on a new, different career path in the aviation industry. Everything is still going well, I'm picking up a lot of technical jargon and getting the hang of it. : ))
However I only have one complaint, my workplace is at the extreme end of eastern Singapore. (I live in a rather centralised area.) Travelling to and fro daily takes up around 4 hours!!! This is horrendous. I had never been so "hardworking" in my life, making such a long journey just to get to work and back. I used to only travel maximum of 40 minutes get to my old job place...
With a such a loooooooooooong journey, I could never forget my trusty Ipod. My favourites are loaded and blasting in my ears every morning and evening. Sometimes I even caught myself humming and singing along. I do wish other commuters won't give me such weird, disgusted stares whenever I do that though. HAHAHA

Sneak Peaks II

Yeowhooooooooo
I survived my first day of work. My manager is kinda understanding, patient and my colleagues seem friendly. Truth be told, I have absolutely no industrial experience in the aviation industry but I'm grateful for this chance to learn. : ))

Anyway I'm back from my short trip and the saddest thing is there are no photos to show you guys.
Batam ain't really that interesting but the massages are really cheap. Me and L had a 2 hour Balinese massage and 1hr foot reflexology each and that cost a mere S$50+. Really fabulous! : ))
Was thinking I might go there for the massages soon.

Yesterday me and L was in town shopping for stuff for the wedding. I believe we had severely exceeded our budget by a LOT. We bought a sweater vest and L had 2 shirts MTM. Couldn't believed he was willingly to splurge as I had assumed he wanted something low-key. One reason why I believe L had splurged is he is really not required to wear a shirt everyday in his line of work and those 2 shirts are kinda "extra" sitting in his wardrobe. Oh well I do hope L would find some other occasions to wear the shirts again somehow.

Over the weekend I had also requested the help of (copycat) Friend as she had volunteered her services previously. And I know her handicraft skills is so much better than mine thus I decide to ask for her help. However when she heard my idea of how I wanted my favours to be wrapped, she gave some sorts of excuses such as using boxes would be easier for me. Or I could use another alternative, blah blah blah.... I told her I'm open to ideas as long as my guests get their favours and that the favours are wrapped, that's all.
I was replaying our conversation in my mind and I realised that she had never agreed to help nor reject me. Instead our conversation was all about finding alternatives on how to wrap my favours. To be fair, my ideal packaging is using sheets of Yellow Pages, curling them into cones and putting the little trinkets in. I don't find that as difficult as crossing into Mordor but perhaps they are indeed time consuming. The Yellow Pages are really thin and filmsy so we gotta stick a few pages together to make the cone sturdier and to tape the edges  so that the cone won't fall apart. Since Friend had not commit to anything, I guess I will just have to make do without her help. *kinda frustrated now*

Luckily L is more responsive. After hearing me whine for like million time about the lack of progress of our DIY wedding, he has taken on the task of wrapping the favours. It's still a secret on how he's gonna do it but he did assured me, "just leave it to me (L)" I'm keeping my fingers crossed then! : ))

Here's what I'm doing now. : ))
One can easily get the puncher from any scrapbooking shops in town or Popular. I got mine from Daiso. : ))
I'm using crepe paper which was originally intended for wrapping the favours. However it was 2 sided thus thicker than the usual paper and is really difficult to punch through. : l
Punching through the Yellow Pages was a breeze! : ))

Sneak Peeks of D-Day

What have I been up to?
Blinging my shoes up for D-Day!
Bought some stickers and dusted glitter dust all over them.
Really messy (careless me spilled some glitter on the floor) but I totally love it! :))

Seasons

25 days to D-Day!!!
Where have I been for the past few days!!!!!
Less than a month and I had not been able to get everything in check.
*slight panic*

L has not even got his attire yet! L does not wants a suit (which I'm fine by that). L has no preferences, as long as he's comfty. Initially a tie seems to be the most "used" idea around but lately L has been toying with the notion of wearing a bowtie or suspenders. Those are crazy cool stuff and I had never expected L to come out and say he wanna wear those. He's not that kind of cool dapper style but anyway I absolutely love it! We started our search and been looking around for the items but ... We couldn't find any of those, especially in a sunshiney-yellow hue. Bleah... Feels so disappointed. Are Singaporean guys not adventurous in their dressing?
L is disappointed as well and thought of merely getting a tie in the end.
My belief is he's just as tired as me combing thru shopping malls and wasting our time. Poor baby.....

Remember my friend whom suggested I could copy her flowers idea? She has been kinda getting on my nerves. Much as I appreciate ideas and inspiration passed on to me, I do not like people telling me downright on what to use/do/buy/get/ and adding in the bomber sentence such as, "I used ......... at my wedding as well, you could copy/follow my example"
She suggested that I could use colored silk scarves as a tie for L (wow innovative! BUT I had wore scarves as ties as way before as 2005 back then!) Her hubby used a plain square purple scarf, folded to look like a tie and tucked underneath his blazer, back in their days. When I mentioned L is not wearing any suit nor blazer for our solemnization, she changed the idea to wearing the scarf and tying it the way just like a tie. That makes absolutely no sense to me! If I could get a plain colored bright yellow scarf, yeah her idea would work but ultimately a silk scarf costs more than a silk tie so why would I be looking out for a scarf in the first place?!

Then she commented on my makeup trial. I had green eyeshadow. It was merely an experiment and I admit I do not look good in green. Thus I'm still deciding to use some other colors that would compliment my dress and color theme. Friend judged me on my trial and went all round saying the green made me look like a slut?! WTF. I didn't know colors could give people a different personality. Then she kept insisting I use purple, blue and white/silver to highlight my eyes, only to add in her typical killer sentence. "I used those colors for my wedding, remember?!"

That really doesn't go well with me. I really felt uncomfortable with her nowadays. I'm the one getting married but why is she giving me her recycled ideas from her wedding? Much as I appreciate her tried and tested ways but I'm just not ready to be hearing, "oh so you are copying me and using .......... for your wedding as well?!"
I want my Day to be about me and L, how it goes down well with both our personalities but Friend is not really thinking of all these. She is merely giving me ideas that worked on her before and which might not work on me now. We are as different as chalk and cheese. And to think I used to look up to her as someone who truly knows me and appreciates my quirky other side. Sigh...

On a happier note, I'm gonna start my new job coming Monday. It's a different industry and I hope I can grasp all the technical jargon quick. :P
And I'm going away to Batam for a short trip this Friday. Can't wait to go for all the massages there! : ))

I'm becoming such a geek recently. I had been occupying myself with surfing the web ever since the Lunar New Year.
Throughout all this time, I came across a lot of beautiful stuff. Inspiration for the wedding, my house, my soon-to-be married life and delicious recipes as well. : ))
Since L is overseas and I'm gonna start a new job soon, I guess I might not have that much time as now to "research".
I figured that I should share some of the good stuff from the net with you guys. Enjoy!

Oh by the way, D-Day is 32days away! *winks*

Happy V Day

It's a day for love! Or rather for the Hallmark people to make tons of $$! Nevertheless go forth and make love you all! : ))

L is in Vietnam now so yah, I'm dateless today. No roses, no fancy dinners, no presents.  V day used to mean alot to me when I was younger but now I guess I've grown more practical. I've seen roses being sold dirt cheap in markets. Chocolates could be purchased from the minimarts. Dinners? Well I could learn from Masterchef and whip up my own. There's absolutely no need to splurge. BUT I'm not stopping L from giving me flowers nor dinners if he really wants or AND if we could afford. I'm just saying, before I spend my hard earned money on dedicated occasions like this, I learn to be more down to earth. *wistful*
Anyway to all lovers out there, go forth and celebrate! (
L sent me a text last night though. That's sweet of him. And I asked if I'm getting any flowers to which he sent the reply very promptly. "No" Well okies, I could live with that. Hahahah

Since it's a day made for love, I shall post pictures of Kiat and Oh's wedding held in Thailand. Super overdue, I know but there's thousands of pictures to go through and it's quite a hassle. Plus I dunno any photoshop thus I can't redo all the pictures and show it to you guys. Some (shots of me) are fugly. YUCKS! Anyway I had picked only certain portions of the ceremony to be posted. Enjoy!

35 more days...

"Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe"

Okies, I'm stumped! I definitely do not have any of all those!!! *tearing hair out*
I gotta have all four items!
Gotta calm down and think properly... Hmmm

Something old (continuity with the bride's family and the past)
Was going through my mother's boxes of  precious scrap cloth (she used to be a seamstress) but I just can't find anything to use for my hand bouquet. I wonder what else is old enough that I could use for my solemnization. My shoes are old though...

Something new (optimism and hope for the new life ahead)
Eh, this is easy. My gown is new. So is my hairpiece! (I will post pictures of the hairpiece once I received it from Melinda. I think I'm gonna get new lingerie as well.

Something borrowed (from a happily married family member or friend, whose good fortune supposedly will carry over to me! : P )
I have no idea on what items my sister-in-law has, or my BFF has... *scratches head*

Something blue (in ancient Roman times, brides wore blue to symbolize love, modesty and fidelity. Blue was a popular color then)
Ditto as above, NO IDEAS!

I'm like so panicky now. My budget is tight as it is and I really do not want to get stuff unnecessarily. Anyone has ideas for me? : ((

Itty Bitty

It's 37 more days to go!
Wow! As each day goes by, I'm starting to get more fired up. Ideas of the solemnization starts to grow, piling up with each bridal blog/magazine I read. Every married friend I talked to, always have that one more sweet little suggestion as well.
And yet at the end of the day, whilst laying on the bed, I recollected all the ideas, kinda lined them up in my mind and filtered them.
Some seem plausible whilst others are way too extravagant for my tiny reception. Some are sweet little gestures  which add that extra touch but at the same time, too OTT for my intimate guests.
I want a sweet little reception, L wants a simple one and we both do not want to overspend on this. : (

On a side note, my Tadashi gown has arrived! I bought if off Ebay, as the usual US websites I shopped from, does not carry the dress in my size anymore. When I messaged L earlier to inform him of the dress, he requested to see the dress as well. I was like no way! Which groom had seen their bride wearing the gown prior to the wedding? Oh wait, let me clarify. Since I had been occupying my "eng eng cheng cheng" self recently with bridal blogs (all from US), I realised that grooms do not get to see their brides in their wedding gowns before the wedding. But our local brides usually shop with their grooms for the photography and wedding attire package together, so both parties get to see each other in their finest. Thus I'm determined that L won't get to see me in my gown just like the 'ang mo" style. I'm hoping to give him a surprise when I walk into the restaurant on that day. *winks*
In case you people wanna know what kind of gown I got, all I could say it's lace. And one-shouldered. : ))

Ain't the stars pretty in their one shoulder dresses? My dress is long, different from the pictures. I just wanna show you guys a rough indication of what's lace and one shouldered. L don't get it. Hahaha
The dress in the bottom picture was by Valentino. I absolutely love the designer's dresses and gowns. How I wish I could afford them as well. (if only... sigh)

And also within the course of the last 3 days, since my previous post regarding my search for the flowers and the color theme for the reception, I had since resigned myself to the fact that I ain't ever gonna get camellia flowers at all. BLEAH
I had somehow convince myself (like 70%) to use calla lilies instead. However the thought of using bright cheerful daffodils still appeals to me. BFF had consoled me by saying a thousand and one (well... not exactly, more like two..) reasons for me to use calla lilies. Top of her list is practicality (cost effective more so than if I order the other two flowers in) and second is calla lilies are pretty. Period.
Well I guess I should settle for calla lilies for the time being. However there's still a reminder to myself that I need to make another trip down to the nurseries slightly before my wedding to see what is in bloom.

Wanted to get yellow heels too but somehow I could not bear to part with my money for something that I would only wear once (I know, I know, you guys are gonna remind me of my gown but, but it's soooo pretty!). Yellow heels are so not me but I'm sure they would bring a dash of color to my ivory gown. Plus it would be cute to have something different. Was thinking of getting yellow Havianas as well. They would come in handy if we are going to take photos after the reception. We could go off somewhere nice to take the bridal pictures and  I could change into something more comfty and nothing beats comfort like a pair of Havianas! : ))

Decisions, decisions... woahh
Gonna put the Havianas idea back to my mind for awhile. Don't really need that though. I still have a pair of orange ones, brand new. Plus L had not found his yellow tie yet. Prioritize! :P
